Retraining Your Brain and Body
Your brain controls your posture automatically. If you have been slouching at a desk for 10 years, your brain now thinks that abnormal posture is "normal." It has shortened the ligaments on one side of your spine and lengthened them on the other to hold you in that bad position.
To fix posture abnormalities, we have to actively stretch the tight tissues and strengthen the weak ones. This requires a dedicated postural rehabilitation program utilizing Chiropractic BioPhysics (CBP) principles.
Mirror-Image® Exercises
- The CBP DifferenceMirror-image exercises are unique to CBP. We literally have you perform exercises in the exact opposite (mirror image) position of your poor posture.
- Reversing Forward Head PostureFor example, if you have forward head posture, we will prescribe specific cervical retraction exercises against resistance to fire the muscles that pull the head backward.
- Building Long-Term StabilityBy consistently challenging the nervous system in this new alignment, we eventually achieve postural stabilization, meaning you hold the correct posture naturally without having to think about it.
